Stephen Sherman earned his Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island.  He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Rhode Island Academy of Physician Assistants.

Stephen’s clinical interests include minimally-invasive and robotic-assisted surgery, and six-sigma/lean management.

In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, writing fiction and going on hikes with his wife and son.

  • Dr Sherman seems to genuinely care. He listened to my concerns, questions etc. And when he gave me answers or explained something to me he did it in a way for me to understand and always asked if I understood or had any questions.

  • Was a patient there 15+ yrs ago. Chose it because it was highly recommended. Very satisfied then and happy to be referred for my last procedure.

  • Mostly everyone was exceptionally courteous except for the girl who worked in check out at the counter that was right near the door when you walk out she was very rude and I did not appreciate that at all she made me feel very uncomfortable. It's too bad there is one bad apple out of the whole bunch because everyone else was very nice and professional but she was not at all. I would have gave a better score if it wasn't for her.

  • This is the first time I have been in this office. It was a follow up appointment after being the hospital four days August 7th. The provider was the first time I met him and he was excellent. He was well informed and responded to all my questions fully. He asked follow up questions concerning my primary care physician concerning my problem. They were appropriate for my continued care. My primary care physician I have had over twenty years. She is very thorough and I am too in gathering information for my health. I like to be prepared and researched when I go for appointments. I have never been disappointed with my care when I choose to be partners with my doctors for my health.

They called the facility where I had it done, to clarify that I was negative. The doctor was excellent, he explained everything to me that he could possibly do. I could ask another question. I think your service is excellent service, I would rate it A+.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
