About Nancy Carney

Dr. Carney earned her bachelor’s degree at Wellesley College before completing her medical degree at Brown University. She completed a residency in Family Practice at Memorial Hospital through the Warren Alpert School of Medicine.

Dr. Carney began her career as an Emergency Physician at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Woonsocket, R.I. before entering into private practice. Before joining Southcoast Health, she had been the lead physician in practice at Warrensburg Health Center in Warrensburg, N.Y. and was part of the medical staff at Glens Fall Hospital in Glens Falls, N.Y.
Her professional interests include women’s health and performing colposcopies and endometrial biopsies.

  • Customer service is excellent staff is pleasant

  • The fact that my provider can't fill 3 of my prescriptions and I now need to find 2 more doctors to get them filled is very inconvenient. That means having 4 different doctors instead of 2 means 4 times the appointments I need to make. Also if I'm sick I can't go to my provider if I feel sick and I have to go to a walk-in clinic is also very inconvenient. I don't know why I need a provider if they cannot forfill my needs.

  • The appointment was very late. I sat in the room for 1/2 hour before I saw the doctor. The doctor came in did not introduce her self did not mention my name did not say glad to meet you good day or anything else just sat on the seat and started working on the computer. It was a terrible experience.

  • My provider is very easy to talk to. It's always an enjoyable experience and I look forward to visit. Thank you.

  • Telehealth is no substitute for in person care. This was a first visit that involved taking my medical history. I had a specific problem that needs addressing with a specialist and the primary care doctor expressed zero compassion for the problem and seemed unsure of where to send me. I realize she was at her keyboard filling in notes, but she seemed distracted and had to ask me the same questions several times. It was not a great beginning for what I hoped will be a long clinical relationship.

  • Waited almost 45 minutes for visit. Nurse call before appointment asked most of the same questions.

  • Dr. Carney is always helpful and takes time to listen.The staff is helpful and takes time to point out the next step in my appointment schedule. I think they work well together as a staff. Although I am not the only patient in the office I always feel as if I am .

  • All contact with staff over the phone was pleasant and efficient.The doctor is a very good listener and responds to my questions and concerns in a easy to understand manner.

  • I waited two hours for the phone call from the physician. My appointment was scheduled at 11:30 I was on the phone on hold from 1120 to 10 or 12 hung up and then was on hold for another half an hour it was ridiculous.

  • I was not pleased with the staff as they seemed young and unexperienced. They were not very helpful at all.

  • The wait time is appalling. My appointment was at 2pm. The nurse didn't take me back until 2:27 and the doctor didn't show up until 3:30. I was discharged at 4pm. I was there for 2 hours for a routine physical. Unacceptable.

  • On a separate note, I frequently receive e-mails from South Coast Health and there is nothing in the e-mail.Since the e-mail system is a no-reply allowed system, I am at a loss as to the nature of the content.

  • Dr. Nancy Carney provides excellent care. I retired from [Name] [Name] Hospital 3 years ago and Dr. Carney has been my PCP ever since. I have several medical issues that she follows very closely. A big factor for me is appointment time. She never rushes the time we spend together. I feel very confident in her care.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
