About Nancy Carney

Dr. Carney earned her bachelor’s degree at Wellesley College before completing her medical degree at Brown University. She completed a residency in Family Practice at Memorial Hospital through the Warren Alpert School of Medicine.

Dr. Carney began her career as an Emergency Physician at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Woonsocket, R.I. before entering into private practice. Before joining Southcoast Health, she had been the lead physician in practice at Warrensburg Health Center in Warrensburg, N.Y. and was part of the medical staff at Glens Fall Hospital in Glens Falls, N.Y.
Her professional interests include women’s health and performing colposcopies and endometrial biopsies.

  • Excellent experience , knowledgeable and listened to my concerns

  • This establishment visit was a waste of time and one of my sick days. I was made to feel inadequate due to certain circumstances and I also did not appreciate the pushy behavior of the provider for me to get the booster. I have the first two vaccines; I am an adult and get to decide whether I want a booster shot or not. I left this appointment frustrated with the only hopes that the nurse practioner might be the better option.

  • Office visit was great but your phone service to call is rediculus on hold for over half an hour then they hang up I was on hold for over three hours with your call center

  • The fact that i had to wait 5 weeks for an appt. Left work arrived 10 mins before appt. 30 mins after my appt time nurse comes out to tell me dr is running 1.5 hrs behind. I had to leave as i could not wait had to get back to work. I asked why i had not been contacted earlier to arrive later, was told not their job. I don't understand why you think my time is not as important as the drs? Epic fail. Then to havecthe dr not listen to me and mmmhmmm me to death

  • I went for a physical and didn't get any blood work done. To me that's a very important part of the physical. When I asked why it wasn't done I was told because I didn't have my records and was given a form to fill out to get them myself. I assumed that the provider would get my signature to release the records and request them through the office, not put it on me.

  • I thought that the Westport Facility...all the people there were very kind and friendly and thoughtful, asked questions about how I was doing. I think Nancy Carney is...Dr. Nancy Carnie is a wonderful practitioner, very thoughtful, explained the course of medication is required, and helpful, and I just find her to be an effective practitioner, and I'm just very fortunate to have her.

  • This was my initial visit and I felt extremely comfortable. Staff was great and Dr Carney was Excellent.

  • The wait time was a little long but they kept me up to date to what was happening.

  • The office got me in to see Dr. Carney right away when had extreme back pain. She was excellent. She took her time and didn't rush me. She diagnosed me, prescribed more meds and gave me a referral for PT.

  • It took months to get an appointment with a new primary care provider. This last visit was the only appointment available. This is NOT acceptable

  • Everyone in the office was great except the doctor. She was abrasive, curt, and acted like I was wasting her time there somehow. I am so fortunate that I have my next appointment with one of the RNs because I never want to see that doctor again.

  • I didn't pick it it was pick for me over year ago it close by but only good thing about it don't do any tests here and while best visit I had there I still don't like my doctor she. Listen to me this time did not rush me out did got test setup but still no ultrasound for possible thyroid conditions

  • Dr Carney was very thorough in updating my medical records. I didn't feel rushed with my appointment.. very professional and easy to talk too.

  • What's important is to remember that every person in every room is a person. Please greet each with politeness and at least pretend that you care about our thoughts and our full body health. This doctor was curt and, at times rude. Another tip - look at the human in front of you vs. the age on the chart. Although my age is 61 - if the doctor had looked up, had a discussion with me, we could have had a dialog about my real issues - not the ones she assumed because I catalog as 'elderly'. Shrugging off my small (for her) issues as 'aging ' is simply unacceptable. How to have improved experience? Courtesy. Listening. Dialog. Respect.

  • My provider informs me of the importance I need to know and do to keep my health up. Between my health chart and provider I am able to stay up to date with all my health needs on time.

  • This provider. Listened well to my needs, provided sound advise, and referred me for testing and to specialists that I needed. She was very knowledgeable and took necessary time to collect my info and give great recommendations. She is easily the best provider I have ever used in the South Coast system. Thank you!

  • I have just started with Southcoast but needed to visit the Emergency Room before my visit with Dr. Nancy Carney. She got my lab results and called me to set me up with all my meds before the Emergency Room did!

  • My appointment was at 10:30 and I wasn't seen until 11:15, after asking to be seen & explaining that I had another appointment to get to. I arrived at the office at 10:15, and didn't end up leaving until 11:45. Everyone on staff was very kind and receptive, but I didn't have time to ask questions about my health, the goals for my health, nor did I get to pay my bill, as I asked for information to be emailed because I was in such a rush. It was a waste of my time, which is unfortunate considering I booked the appointment MONTHS ago because the office was too booked to get an appointment in the fall/winter when I called.

  • Doctor is great - the office and support staff need improvement- poor communication skills

  • Dr. Carney was very prepared for our telehealth visit and gave me so much information that I needed which I hadn't gotten from others and for that I'm so thankful!

  • very hard to get to talk to someone on the phone. I waited 10 minutes to finally talk to a real person! Get rid of those machines!

  • Wait time is excessive. Asking a patient to fill out paperwork, but then ask the same exact questions again is not an efficient use of appointment time

  • I'm a new patient and found the staff as well as Dr Carney were thorough, professional and courteous.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
