About Michael Hyder

As the Chief Medical Information Officer, Dr. Hyder provides the strategic clinical vision to bridge the gap between information technology and clinical medicine to give our Providers the right information and technology to help improve patient care across Southcoast Health System. As Chief Medical Officer for Southcoast Physicians Group, he is focused on leading the regions premier providers to deliver the highest quality care with the best experience for our patients and the members of the communities we serve.

Dr. Hyder is also the Acting Medical Director of Southcoast Arrhythmia Services, co – Medical Director of the Southcoast Electrophysiology Laboratories, a staff electrophysiologist and cardiologist.

Dr. Hyder graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor in Science in Accounting and Information Systems. He then earned his Master of Public Health degree at Boston University, with a focus in health care services, and his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He completed his Internal Medicine residency, his fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine and his fellowship in Interventional Electrophysiology from UMass Memorial Medical Center where he served as Chief Cardiology Fellow.

He is board certified in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, Cardiovascular Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society and continues to see patients in his clinical practice.

  • Hi, Dr. Hyder did the best possible job overseeing me and over he's in my doctor for many years the best cardiologist I've ever had. And he keeps a close eye on me at all times and I appreciate that very much.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
