About Mariel Del Rio-Cadorette

Dr. Del Rio-Cadorette began her path in the medical field as a student in her home country of Peru. It was during this time that she found her calling and became inspired to become an Internal Medicine doctor and to pursue a subspecialty in the area of Infectious Disease. Dr. Del Rio Cadorette believes in a philosophy of care which focuses on servicing her patients’ needs. She understands that all patients want to be able to thrive, and she takes pride in making sure they are healthy enough to live an active life.

Dr. Del Rio-Cadorette earned her medical degree at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, in Lima, Peru. She then completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Henry Ford Health System, in Detroit, MI, followed by her fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Henry Ford Health System, in Detroit, MI.

Dr. Del Rio-Cadorette is a member of the Peruvian Medical Association and Infectious Diseases Society of America. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Infectious Diseases, and her clinical interests include acute bacterial infections, HIV, and Hepatitis C.

In her personal time, Dr. Del Rio-Cadorette enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, while also caring for two cats, a rabbit, and two birds.

  • I had a very good experience

  • I was hoping to find out how long it would take four blood wk results would take to return. I am extremely anxiousAbout these labs.

  • She spent almost an hour with me! Unheard of in this day and age. She was going back and forth between the computer and me and some of the information didn't quite mesh, but we worked it out. My only real complaint, I have decreased hearing in my right ear due to shingles, the reason I was referred to infectious disease, and her computer was to my right so I was missing some of what she said and I had to ask her to repeat. Not her fault obviously, but probably a bit of a time waster considering she had other patients.

  • It was by phone so unable to meet anyone. There was confusion about my visit being video or phone call. Which was the delay. The Dr was actually amazing with all her information to me and unlike some Drs, took her time with me without rushing.

  • The tele video appointment was planned efficiently and executed professionally.

  • Appointment was exactly on time

  • I enjoyed meeting her, she was informative and I Hope this new regime, albeit tried before, will work for me this time.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
