About Kyle Tokarz

Dr. Tokarz is a pain medicine specialist who supports patients at the Southcoast Brain & Spine Center, Southcoast Health Cancer Centers and Southcoast Physicians Group.

He earned his doctor of osteopathy degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, W.Va. He completed his internship in surgery and his residency in anesthesiology at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va.

He also completed his fellowship in pain management at the University of California-Davis in Sacramento, Calif.

Before joining Southcoast, Dr. Tokarz served as a staff anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego, where he was also distinguished as an assistant professor of anesthesiology at the Uniformed School of Health Sciences School of Medicine.

He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in anesthesiology, with sub-specialty certification in pain medicine.

  • The front desk was very nice when checking me in for my appt. Dr Tokarz listened to my issues and took the time to decide what treatment I needed next. The whole experience went well!

  • Try to help me better and ask would would help me and ask what would work for me and not pick what you think would work and not be completely dude and arrogant when you speak to me!!!!!

  • 50min wait for telavisit is not acceptable. My Dr had no idea of what happened at the appointment he scheduled for me with a surgeon. I now have to get another mri, and I have been waiting over a month to meet with my Dr . He just yesterday told me to get it done. I am still waiting for his office to call me to set up the mri.....so it will be going on 5 weeks. All this should have been done in a much more timely fashion because it is affecting my quality of life.

  • Dr Tokarz always takes the time to make sure that all is well not just my condition but am I am able to function as I hope to. The staff is always friendly efficient always takes the time be sure my health concerns are being met.

  • Office and medical assistant staff professional and welcoming. This is first time I saw this physician after many different doctors addressing the same back pain issue. He listened. And came up with a plan with an explanation of how it will help. I felt hopeful for first time in 3 years with this plan. He treated me like what I said and felt mattered.

  • Hi. It's always great to deal with South Coast doctors and staff. I have no qualms there. Now with Dr. Tokarz, I see him for shots, so we don't have regularly scheduled appointments. And my back went out, and it took three weeks just to be able to talk to him, to do what needed to be done, which is schedule my shot, which the girls need to do and it's been 2 days and I have not heard about my shot, that I've been now waiting for, for a month, and it will probably be 3 to 6 weeks before I can get in. I doubt that that is their fault, but I'm still in pain. As far as the staff, and Dr. Tokarz, and what he does and ... it all works very well. Thank you.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
