About Kyle Tokarz

Dr. Tokarz is a pain medicine specialist who supports patients at the Southcoast Brain & Spine Center, Southcoast Health Cancer Centers and Southcoast Physicians Group.

He earned his doctor of osteopathy degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, W.Va. He completed his internship in surgery and his residency in anesthesiology at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va.

He also completed his fellowship in pain management at the University of California-Davis in Sacramento, Calif.

Before joining Southcoast, Dr. Tokarz served as a staff anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego, where he was also distinguished as an assistant professor of anesthesiology at the Uniformed School of Health Sciences School of Medicine.

He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in anesthesiology, with sub-specialty certification in pain medicine.

  • Dr. Tokarz was very alert to everything I had to tell him about the pain that I've been living in for so many years and how it's gotten aggressively worst. And he did some testing on my feet and strength and he also provided me with the date, they'll be calling me for MRI. This is the first time I've ever seen him. So, of course he has to see the MRI so we can see what's going on in there. But he was a very, very respectful doctor and I hold him in a very high regard. And I would recommend him to anyone I know. Thank you.

  • Ensuring that providers actually listen to their patients concerns, I felt very dismissed yet again but am told I have no choice but to see this doctor

  • I thought the office was very professional and everyone was very pleasant. However, I was disappointed when I went to pick up my prescriptions that the authority had not been given to fill them. Apparently, you've got to have some kind of authority to fill them, so my insurance company will pay for it. So when I get to CVS, they said they couldn't do it because they didn't have the authorization. So I will follow up on that tomorrow. Thank you. Bye.

  • Physical therapy was recommended. I received a call soon afterward to schedule my first PT appointment.

  • I talked to Dr. Tokarz's today. Actually, he was wonderful. He asked me all my questions about my neuropathy and my drop foot and all the difference about my health, how I was doing and he was concerned about everything about my life. I told him about the shoes I'm wearing and how I ordered them?.He had he thought that was great and then I'm getting out when I'm working the best I can and he thought that was great. I would recommend Dr. Tokarz to anyone. He is wonderful.

"She would get us going," and she did.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
