About James Lippincott

Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Lippincott is in practice at Swansea Family Practice Group in Swansea. He is on the active medical staff at Charlton Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Lippincott received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his residency in family medicine at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania, followed by a fellowship in academic family medicine at the same institution.

He is an associate professor/clinical instructor in family medicine at Brown University Medical School and a clinical instructor in the Physician Assistant Program at Northeastern University in Boston.

Dr. Lippincott is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and a member of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry, a field in which he also is board certified.

  • Everything went well. Just sad to hear of Dr. Lippincotts retirement in 6 months.

  • I could only schedule on line. I wanted an annual physical & ended up with a 15 minute diabetes check in appointment which was explained to me by the nurse once I was in the room. Not happy about this.

  • I was taken in exactly on time. Did not have to wait in the waiting room and I did not wait in the... in the examination room. Longer than 3 minutes.

  • All the staff were caring and very professional .

  • The experience at the office went very well. The only thing that does not go well is the wait time to call your office. It's a horrendous wait time, you know, 10, 15 minutes on the phone just to get a human. You need to do better with that. You get sick of hearing the same recording that says, 'your call is important to us, and your call will be answered in the order it was received'. You need a human response better. There's enough of girls in that office to answer the phone. Thank you.

  • I appreciated the safety protocols --the person who met me at the front door and took my temperature and the fact that everyone was wearing a mask. I also liked the idea of the lab technician coming to the exam room to draw blood. Everyone was very efficient and caring. Dr. Lippincott is so knowledgeable and he makes me feel very comfortable.

He was fabulous and did let me know I may have to go to the emergency room where other equipment is available.   • hi I called I called the office to see if I can get a sick visit in and I didn't get an appointment until the following afternoon around 3:15 and I was at teleHealth call the phone call lasted I don't even think 2 minutes I think maybe a minute and 1/2 and the doctor audit blood work and and I haven't heard from him since so I don't I don't really feel like I was taking care of at all and so I'm very unhappy with this particular provider

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
