About Christos Kapogiannis

Dr. Kapogiannis has been a part of the Southcoast family since 1999. He is a graduate of the six-year combined undergraduate/medical program at Boston University. Dr. Kapogiannis completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the New England Medical Center, as well as a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at Boston University.

Dr. Kapogiannis is board certified in internal medicine, critical care medicine, sleep medicine, and pulmonary disease. His research interests range from sleep apnea and asthma to lung cancer and interstitial lung diseases.

He is a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society and the American College of Chest Physicians.

  • I checked in and no one told me he was running late. My apt ended up being 45 min behind. After sitting for half an hour I had to ask what was the hold up. They said they would check. 15 min later they called me in. I would never have waited if i was told upon arrival that appointments were that far behind. Very unprofessional. My time us important too !

  • The office staff [Name] was very friendly, accommodating and overall, pleasant when assisting us with checkin & checkout. The woman [Name] was also very helpful in finding out information regarding the CPAP machine.As for the Dr.; not to much repour, interaction with regards to the data from the print out of the CPAP machine. Would be more helpful if there was a model/visual for assisting sped/delayed adults on how to properly use their machines. COVID has added to making appointments feels very stagnate and not on a more personal/friendlier level.

  • He's one of the few providers that will go through my records with other specialist and see what's happened. I haven't seen him in a couple years every time he provide medication It's the one that works with other providers they don't follow up and sometimes the medication is not working. So he's very smart I'm very he''s very good I like him. I don't say that often but I like him, and anybody else I talked to about Dr. Kapogiannis because I have friends that see him and they like him too. The other specialists they do not like, so that's it.

  • The visit was absolute absolutely fine, but this survey is the most convoluted, time wasting thing I have ever seen. You repeat the numbers entirely too many times. You have way too much explanation and if half the people give up in the middle of it, I don't blame them.

  • I didn't have a bad experience. I like Dr. Kapogiannis. I don't care for his assistant or his secretary because they're not very nice people. They're actually kind of rude. Other than that. They don't ask about or talk about questions on the price of my prescriptions. I think he takes very careful thought in taking care of me and my husband also sees him. So I don't know why it's saying I put a negative because I didn't but I do like Dr. Kapogiannis and I would recommend him highly as a 10.

  • Talked about what to do for my breathing to get where it belongs, possibly changing up medication and getting a cat scan on my chest to double check everything. Also letting me know how to get coupons for my inhalers abd giving me samples which was greatly appreciated!

  • Considering the pandemic, there were only a couple of patients in the waiting room. I was happy to see that. I was called within minutes of my arrival and then within a couple minutes to see my Doc. I felt very comfortable with him wearing his mask and gloves and being a top professional as always, as was all the staff. This is a great place.u00A0

  • It was my 1st time seeing this doctor. He had a great personality & actually took the time to listen to my concerns & answer all my questions the best he could in easy to understand terms... which is pretty rare these days... and I ask a lot of questions. In my experience some docs can seem to get offended, annoyed, or take it a bit personal when a patient asks a lot of questions & he did not in the least. He gets an A+ in my book.

  • This was a very convenient and efficient way to interact with my doctor when an in person visit (physical exam) wasn’t necessary.

  • I was taken right on time, the receptionist, the I don't know if it was a nurse practitioner or physician's assistant that brought me in the room. She was excellent and Dr. Kapogiannis was also excellent. I plan on keeping him as my pulmonary physician.

  • So I felt like Dr. Kapogiannis was very knowledgeable about what I was talking to him about which was obstructive sleep apnea. And I thought that he seemed very caring and very interested in helping me. He was running a little behind and it would have been nice if the front office staff could keep you informed about that just so that you know what to expect. But other than that, I have no other complaints they were very very professional in this office.

  • Everyone in the office was really nice, and knew what they were doing, knew what they were talking about, treated me with respect. The doctor was awesome. He gave me time to tell him what was going on. He asked questions, asked again if I had any questions, so he made me feel very comfortable, and felt like he really knew what he was talking about.

  • Dr. Kapogiannis is always a real gentleman and caring and knowledgeable physician. As usual he was very attentive and patient answering all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. He was extremely thorough and clear about all my medical issues. I highly recommend Dr. Kapogiannis.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
