A Message From Keith Hovan, President & CEO of Southcoast Health
June is Pride Month and I ask that you join me in taking a moment to reflect on the many contributions that members of the LGBTQ community make to our society and to our mission here at Southcoast Health every single day. In recognizing Pride Month, we honor the efforts, struggles and the dignity of all individuals who consider themselves part of the LGBTQ community.
It seems appropriate to announce during Pride Month our renewed focus on ensuring that Southcoast Health is an inclusive environment for employees and patients – one which recognizes and embraces our diversity. Toward this end, we are happy to announce the following:
- The recent appointment of Barbara Schmidt to the newly-created position of Director, Organizational Culture and Engagement. Barbara’s efforts will help to ensure a culture of respect, engagement and recognition.
- We are currently assembling a Southcoast Diversity & Inclusion Council that will guide us in how we further support and embrace the differences of all employees, providers and patients as we continue to evolve our best place to work culture.
We are excited about the path we are on. The varied backgrounds of our providers and employees enhance our success in providing the highest quality care and service to all those we serve. We are committed to these system-wide diversity and inclusion efforts, which further solidify a culture built upon respect and appreciation for all members of our community regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or gender identification. Doing so will create a stronger community and a stronger Southcoast Health.
