When your condition is most critical, you expect unsurpassed care in an unrivaled environment.
That's what you'll find in our new state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit, specifically designed to better serve patients, families and staff.
The 10-room unit is designed so all patients are visible from the nurses' station. Staff can monitor patients from every location on the unit.
The rooms are three times the size of the old ICU rooms and designed for patient and family comfort. They accommodate the most up-to-date diagnostic and treatment equipment with many of the most commonly used features, including monitoring equipment, oxygen, equipment alarms, light controls and speakers, built directly into the beds and walls to increase efficiency and optimize space. Each room has advanced cardiac monitoring equipment.
Solid walls between patient rooms assure privacy and confidentiality while glass walls facing the nurses' station allow easy access for staff and equipment in the case of an emergency.
Special data units in the ICU and Emergency Department share critical information, giving staff easy and immediate access to data collected through monitoring.
Two of the rooms are negative pressure rooms — a safety feature necessary in treating patients with highly contagious diseases such as tuberculosis and SARS.
