We have one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the state. Working here challenges you to use your brain, all your skills and instincts.
And it's a team effort: the triage nurse does your initial assessment, the nurse in charge of your case gets more pieces of the story and the clinical aide might hear things you've forgotten to mention. Then we communicate all this information and our evaluation to the doctor.
We see infants to geriatrics and everyone in between, with every medical problem imaginable. We treat each patient with respect and dignity. I have aging parents and this is where I bring them.
It's very reassuring when I can tell my patients, "That's my dad's doctor."
