I hate keeping people waiting, especially when they're in pain. But if it feels like it's taking forever to see the doctor, it just means that someone else has a problem that's even more urgent than yours.

In the ER, everything we do is stat, but some things are super stat — including labs and images — and any emergency that threatens loss of life or limb jumps to the head of the line.

So if you're waiting for a few X-rays, it might be because the person with multiple injuries from a car crash had to have CT scans of every part of the body.

I wish you'd never have to wait in the ER, but no matter what else is happening here, I promise that we haven't forgotten about you.
