St. Luke's Hospital, a not-for-profit institution, is a leading health care provider in Southeastern Massachusetts, continually growing in scope and technologies to meet the diverse needs of the families of Greater New Bedford.

St. Luke's offers a wide range of inpatient medical and surgical services, with particular expertise in neurosurgery, cardiology and general surgery. Patients have access to sophisticated diagnostic testing, including CT (computerized tomography) scanning, MRI and nuclear cardiology. Rehabilitation services are available onsite and at satellite locations.

St. Luke's has 393 total beds in service, including 28 infant bassinets and a Level II nursery. The hospital was founded in 1884 and in 1996 it merged with Charlton Memorial in Fall River and Tobey Hospital in Wareham to form Southcoast Health System, which now has dozens of ancillary facilities throughout the region, including an assisted living facility, home health care and hospice, a wellness center and numerous outpatient medical services.

As part of Southcoast Hospitals Group, St. Luke's offers a wide range of free community health education and wellness programs, which includes a mobile health van.



Visiting Hours

    Regular visting: 1 to 8 p.m.

    ICU/CCU/Surgical ICU: Noon to 8 p.m. (immediate family only)

    Maternity: 24 hours for fathers; noon to 8 p.m. for grandparents; 6 to 8 p.m. for general visiting (no children)

    Rogers: 6 to 8 p.m. weekdays; 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sundays & holidays

    Shultz: unlimited
