Our comprehensive aquatic rehabilitation outpatient program at Southcoast combines the beneficial qualities of water with traditional physical therapy to improve your movement, decrease pain and more. As a participant, you’ll work with licensed physical therapists and assistants who will evaluate your musculoskeletal or neuromuscular diagnosis and develop an individualized treatment plan.

Aquatic therapy is also used with traditional, land-based physical therapy to provide a multi-faceted treatment. The pool is easily accessible for handicapped participants, and is controlled to stay at a comfortable temperature. The facilities also include a full locker room and showers.

Join Our Aquatic Physical Therapy Program

Southcoast Health offers aquatic therapy in Wareham, MA at the Gleason YMCA, but you do not need to be a YMCA member to join our program. However, a medical doctor’s prescription for physical therapy, which is deemed medically necessary to increase independence or enhance daily activities, is required to begin therapy.

Most insurance providers will cover aquatic therapy when you have physician prescription noting a medical diagnosis. We recommend that you contact your insurance company to discuss any out-of-pocket expenses for this therapy.
