The Annual Male Conference is designed to educate and empower adolescent males to believe they have a say in how their lives will turn out.
Some 200 adolescent males aged 14 to 18 representing high schools throughout the region attend this noted conference annually. Many upstanding and culturally diverse male role models from the community volunteer their time and effort in planning, serving as facilitators and presenting various workshops.

Workshop Selections
- Your Life: Your Choice ... How the media helps people make decisions — This workshop will focus on the impact that the media has on adolescents bombarded by the need to make decisions that will determine much of the direction of their life post adolescence.
- Rated "R" for Respect — Media and modern day pop culture portrays disrespectful relationships toward women. Presenters from the University of Rhode Island will show how domestic violence and assault scenes in movies desensitize our society. Movie clips graphic in nature, may be difficult to view.
- "SLAM DUNK" — How do the media and advertising in sports affect self-image, manhood and consumerism? Ken Bell, sports anchor at ABC6, takes a behind-the-scenes look at the world of professional athletes and how they affect your views.
- AD Attack? — This interactive workshop examines various media advertisements, how they target teens and what their influence is on you personally. What sells you? Find out in this eye-opening look at advertisement and you.
- Hip-Hop Happening — Rock, Hip Hop, Techno, MTV and radio. This workshop explores the powerful connection between youth and music, its influences, effects and positive contributions.
