Radiology Imaging Services has implemented a Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS). The information and documents below are intended to support physicians' use of PACS.
Physician Needs
In order to meet the needs of various physician groups, there are multiple products of PACS that are available to you.
PACS provides you with access to your patients' images regardless of whether you are in the hospital, in your office or at home. You can access your images through the Southcoast Meditech system, via a clinical workstation, the Web or even a CD.
Accessibility in Your Office
If you are interested in viewing your images in any of these ways, please contact Jocelyn Martins at martinsj@southcoast.org so that we can evaluate what product will best meet your needs.
Paper Images
PACS in your office also enables you or your office staff to print images to paper. Many physicians are accustomed to showing patients their X-rays — and now you can easily show them their pictures on a piece of paper!
Training
If you or your staff have any questions or need additional demonstrations or training, please contact Jocelyn Martins at martinsj@southcoast.org.
Passwords
MIS is working to streamline the numerous password we all are responsible for remembering! The ideal situation is that your Meditech, Novell (for applicable users) and PACS passwords are the same.
For help changing your passwords or the first time any of them expire, please call the Help Desk at 508-961-5090 for assistance.
PACS Issues
We understand that you may have questions or run into issues or unforeseen problems now that all our workflow, processes and access to images has changed.
We encourage you to provide us with that feedback so we can reconcile any of these issues! Please contact the department or Jocelyn Martins directly at martinsj@southcoast.org so we can follow up with you.
If you experience an issue during the evening or weekends and the department cannot help you, please call the Operator and have him/her page the PACS On-Call Person.
