Charlton Memorial Hospital completes $1 million pledge to Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care
FALL RIVER, Mass - The Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial Hospital completed their $1 million pledge to Southcoast®Hospitals Centers for Cancer Care Fall River campus at their annual donor luncheon held on October 23 at Agoro’s Restaurant in Somerset.
Louise McCarthy, President of the Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial Hospital, presented the final payment to Keith A. Hovan, President and CEO of Southcoast Health System and Southcoast Hospitals Group.
McCarthy thanked all of the many supporters who helped to complete the five year pledge in only three years time. The Auxiliary raised the funds through annual galas, two Bowl-a-Thons, proceeds from their gift shop and several smaller fund-raisers.
"I am sure we all have family and friends that have been touched by this dreaded disease," said McCarthy. "Thanks to the state of the art equipment and the outstanding team of medical professionals at Southcoast, cancer patients are now being treated locally with the support of their family and friends nearby their side."
Hovan accepted the check and thanked the Auxiliary for their loyal support.
"Today, you fulfilled a five-year pledge of $1 million to the Fall River site of the Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care," Hovan said. "With this final installment of your pledge, you not only achieved a tremendous philanthropic accomplishment, you did it two years ahead of schedule! Your efforts make it possible for us to continue to provide our patients with the most up-to-date, personalized and compassionate care at one of the most trying times of their lives. For this, you have my deepest thanks."
