Phoenix Rail Trail walk to be led by primary care physician Valentina DaCuna, MD
FAIRHAVEN, Mass. - The October edition of Southcoast® Health System's "Take a Walk with a Southcoast Doc" will take place on Saturday, October 26, in Fairhaven. The community walk will be lead by primary care physician Valentina DaCuna, MD.
Southcoast physicians want to help guide you on the path to good health with a monthly walking program that is designed to get people up, moving and enjoying some beautiful walks throughout the South Coast region.
The 2-mile walk will kick-off at 10 a.m. from the Phoenix Rail Trail Little Bay Extension in Fairhaven. Parking and access to the trail is at the end of Arsene Street by the Fairhaven Public Works Department (5 Arsene Street).
The walk is part of the Phoenix Rail Trail, a walking and bike path that begins in the historic village of Fairhaven and extends through woodlands and marsh, connecting to the bike trail in Mattapoisett.
"Taking a brisk walk can do wonders for your heath," said Dr. DaCunha. "Walking just 30 minutes a day can decrease your risk of many health problems including heart disease, stroke and diabetes. Join us on October 26 for a walk along the Phoenix Rail Trail and improve your health at the same time!"
All ages and levels of walking ability are welcome. Participants will receive a free pedometer and "Better Health Kits" that include information on nutrition and exercise. Registration is encouraged. To register, call the Southcoast Wellness Line at 800-497-1727.
