Panera Bread North Dartmouth to donate proceeds from Pink Ribbon Bagel to Southcoast's Mammography Program during the month of October

DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Panera Bread, located at the Dartmouth Mall in North Dartmouth, is once again inviting its customers to join the fight against breast cancer by enjoying its signature Pink Ribbon Bagel for breakfast, lunch or dinner during national Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

In celebration of the Pink Ribbon Bagel Campaign’s 12-year anniversary, 25 cents from each Pink Ribbon Bagel sold at the North Dartmouth bakery-cafe will be donated to Southcoast® Health System’s Mammography Program.

"We are grateful for the continued support of Panera Bread and its Pink Ribbon Bagel campaign," said Christine LoPiano, Manager of Mammography for Southcoast Health System. "Through the generous donation of Panera and its customers, we will be able to build much needed awareness for women’s health issues in the South Coast region, including the importance of early detection and breast cancer education."

Panera Bread’s Pink Ribbon Bagel is baked fresh daily in each of Panera Bread’s bakery-cafes and features cherry chips, dried cherries, cranberries, vanilla, honey and brown sugar. Sue Stees, one of Panera Bread’s first franchisees and a breast cancer survivor, developed the idea for the Pink Ribbon Bagel in 2001 as a way to help support the cause. Today, the program is employed in most of Panera Bread’s more than 1,500 bakery-cafes across the country.

"Panera Bread and Howley Bread Group are committed to serving the residents of the local community, many of whom have had their lives touched by breast cancer," said Jim Ramaglia, District Manager for Panera Bread/HBG. "We are honored to support Southcoast Health System in its continuing efforts to increase awareness and education of breast cancer and women’s health."

Southcoast Health System is a primary provider of breast health services in the region. Southcoast’s Breast Imaging Centers are designated as Centers of Excellence by the American College of Radiology and offer 100 percent digital mammography services at 12 locations throughout Southeastern Massachusetts.
