Southcoast Health System names Peter D. Martelly, MD, Associate Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Martelly currently serves as the Associate Director of Medical Education for Southcoast Hospitals Group and will continue to do so in his new position.
"Dr. Martelly has been a practicing physician in the Fall River community for nearly 26 years. He brings to this new role many experiences from the diverse leadership positions which he has held within the system," said Robert J. Caldas, DO, Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer of Southcoast Hospitals Group. "In his new position as Associate Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Martelly will assist in overseeing Southcoast's quality improvement and patient safety programs as well as assist in the day-to-day operations of the Medical Staff, Medical Staff Services, Continuing Medical Education and Library departments."
Dr. Martelly received his Medical Degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He completed his residency and internship at Women's & Infant's Hospital in Providence, R.I. Dr. Martelly received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
Dr. Martelly is Board Certified in OB/GYN and currently serves as Associate Director of Medical Education for Southcoast Hospitals Group and previously held the position of Medical Director for Charlton Memorial Hospital. He is a member of the American College of OB/GYN; the Massachusetts Medical Society, Committee on Accreditation Review; and the American Institute for Ultrasound Medicine. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for People Inc. in Fall River.
Dr. Martelly resides in Swansea with his wife, Claudette. Together they enjoy spending time with their three children and five grandchildren.
