Salon Ambiance's third annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day raises $5,800 to benefit Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care

FALL RIVER, Mass. — Salon Ambiance presented a check for $5,800 to The Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial Hospital last week as a result of the salon's third annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day held on Sunday, October 7, 2012. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Auxiliary's $1 million pledge to the Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care.

"The salon is pleased to help raise money for breast cancer awareness," said Kerry Torres, owner of Salon Ambiance. "We are committed to our community and hope to make a difference."

The event featured half price services, including haircuts, waxing, threading, chair massages and mini manicures. It also included raffles, refreshments, music, face painting and more.

"Salon Ambiance is shining example of a local business giving back to their community," said Agatha St. Amour, Director of Volunteer Services for Southcoast Health System. "Each year this event becomes bigger and more successful. We are extremely grateful for Kerry and Jay's passion and commitment to supporting local cancer care at Southcoast and for everyone who came out and supported the event."

About the Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial Hospital

The Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial Hospital is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to render service to Charlton Memorial Hospital, its tax-exempt subsidiaries, its patients and to assist in promoting the health and welfare of the community.
