Charlton Memorial Business Council announces date for "Laughter is the Best Medicine 2!"

Top comedians perform to benefit Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care

FALL RIVER, Mass. — Tickets are now on sale for "Laughter is the Best Medicine 2!," hosted by the Charlton Memorial Hospital Business Council and Venus de Milo. This year's hottest night of comedy headlines two top comedians and musical entertainment provided by DJ Frank Baptista Jr.

The event will take place on Friday, October 26, at 8 p.m. at Venus de Milo, 75 Grand Army Highway in Swansea. Doors open at 7 p.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Business Council's pledge to the capital campaign for the Southcoast™ Centers for Cancer Care.

Tickets are $35 per person and include complimentary hors d'oeuvres. A cash bar and concessions are also available during the event.

Show your ticket at Venus de Milo or Jillian's Sports Pub & Grill between now and October 26 and receive a one-time, 10 percent discount on your meal. Reservations are required to dine at the Venus de Milo the evening of the show.

Opening the event is nationally acclaimed comedian Scott Burton followed by our very own local comedy sensation, the Portuguese Kids. DJ Frank Baptista Jr. will provide music before, during and after the show.

Scott Burton is a cancer survivor and so much more. He is an award-winning comedian and world-class juggler who brings energy, passion and roars of laughter to his performances across the country.

Derrick DeMelo, Jason Casimiro, Brian Martin and Al Sardinha, better known to the South Coast region as The Portuguese Kids, take ethnic comedy to new heights with their live shows by highlighting the funnier side of growing up Portuguese.

Frank Baptista Jr., has been providing disc jockey services throughout New England for over 10 years. Equipped with state of the art equipment, experience and personalized services, Baptista has entertained thousands from nightclubs, corporate events and weddings.

"Laughter is the Best Medicine 2!" is hosted by Charlton Memorial Hospital's Business Council and Venus de Milo to benefit the Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care.
