Theresa M. Souza, NP, named Director of Quality & Education of the Southcoast Hospitalist Program
In her new role, Souza will oversee quality and education of the Hospitalist Program by managing clinical quality improvement projects and a comprehensive education program for the hospitalist providers at the three Southcoast Hospitals sites — Charlton Memorial in Fall River, St. Luke's in New Bedford and Tobey Hospital in Wareham. She will also supervise the program's allied health professionals and continue to care for patients in the hospital in her role as a nurse practitioner.
Souza has worked at Southcoast and its legacy organizations her entire career, dating back to 1987. She has held various professional nursing and management positions at Southcoast, most recently serving as the Nurse Manager of Atwood 3 Surgical at the Charlton Memorial Hospital campus.
Souza holds an Associate of Science in Nursing from Bristol Community College in Fall River, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing, both from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She also holds an American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Certification of Advanced Practice as an Adult Nurse Practitioner.
Souza is certified as a Six Sigma Green Belt and is an American Heart Association Basic Life Support Instructor. She also serves as an Active Practice and Information Technology member of the Organization of Nursing Leaders of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
She resides in Somerset with her husband, Joe, and their two children, Kyle and Geoffrey.
