Health care scholarship opportunities for 2012 high school graduates
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — The Auxiliaries of Charlton Memorial Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital and the Tobey Hospital Guild are each offering $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school students who will be entering college in the fall of 2012 to pursue a career in health care. Charlton and St. Luke Auxiliaries offer five $1,000 scholarships and the Tobey Guild offers three $1,000 scholarships.
To apply for a Charlton scholarship, applicants must attend one of the following high schools: Apponequet Regional High School, Case High School, Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, Durfee High School, New England Christian Academy, Somerset High School, Tiverton High School, Westport High School or Bishop Connolly High School.
To apply for a St. Luke's scholarship, applicants must attend one of the following high schools: Bishop Stand High School, New Bedford High School, Dartmouth High School, Fairhaven High School, Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School or the Nazarene Christian Academy.
To apply for a Tobey scholarship, applicants must attend one of the following high schools: Old Rochester Regional High School, Carver High School, Wareham High School, Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School, Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School or Bourne High School.
Any student entering college in the fall of 2012 to pursue a career in health care and has a good academic record is encouraged to apply. Applications are available in the Guidance Department at each of the schools listed above. The application deadline is April 1.
The Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital and the Tobey Guild are a non-profit organization whose purpose is to render service to each of their respective hospitals, their tax-exempt subsidiaries, their patients and to assist in promoting the health and welfare of the community. Each organization raises money throughout the year by hosting various fundraisers. Joining one of these organizations is a great way to become involved in your community hospital. Members serve as ambassadors to the community on behalf of the hospital.
