Debra A. Desmarais named Executive Director of Radiology Imaging Services for Southcoast Hospitals
In her new role, Desmarais oversees a broad range of imaging services, including diagnostic radiology, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), women's imaging, ultrasound and nuclear medicine at the three Southcoast Hospitals' campuses — Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford and Tobey Hospital in Wareham — in addition to responsibility for imaging services at Truesdale Clinic in Fall River, Southcoast Health System at Rosebrook in Wareham, the Southcoast Center for Women's Health in Dartmouth and several other outreach imaging centers in and around Fall River and New Bedford.
Desmarais began her career as a staff radiologic technologist in the Radiology Department at Union Hospital in Fall River and held a variety of positions, including clinical instructor, educational coordinator, assistant director and director of Radiology at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was promoted to the position of system-wide director of Radiology at Southcoast Hospitals Group in 1998.
Desmarais holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from Providence College in Providence, R.I., and Master of Business Administration from Bryant College in Smithfield, R.I.
She has served on several boards for the athletic leagues in Westport, where she received the Founders Award from the Westport Youth Athletic Association for outstanding commitment to the youth of Westport. She was the Westport Babe Ruth Baseball League secretary from 1994 to 2004.
Desmarais resides in Westport and has three children, Bryan M. Desmarais, PA-C, Christopher J. Desmarais and Daniel P. Desmarais, all of Westport.
