Tobey's New Year's baby arrives at 3:57 p.m.

WAREHAM, Mass. — Tobey Hospital in Wareham welcomed its first baby of the New Year at 3:57 p.m. Sophia Faith Crippin, weighing 8 pounds, 13 ounces, and 20.5 inches long, was born to Kristin Leigh Crippin and Derek Crippin of Marion. Sophia is the couple's first child.

The first New Year's baby to born in the South Coast region arrived at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River at 1:11 a.m. on January 1, 2012.

Amanda Rego and Thelmo Rego, of Fall River, had a baby boy, Ashton Rego, weighing nine pounds, 4 ounces and 19.5 inches long. This is the couple's first child.

St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford welcomed a baby boy at 9 a.m. Baby Charles Scott Gonneville was born to Brooke Amarantes and Timithy Gonneville of New Bedford. Charles weighs 8 pounds, 10 ounces and is 23 inches long. This is the couple's second child.

The Southcoast Hospitals New Year's babies will receive gift baskets filled with baby toys and clothes and a $100 dollar savings bond donated by the St. Luke's & Charlton Auxiliaries and the Tobey Hospital Guild.

Charlton Memorial Hospital

Ashton Rego was the first baby born on the South Coast in 2012. He is pictured with his parents, Amanda Rego and Thelmo Rego of Fall River, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. This is the couple's first child.

St. Luke's Hospital

Charles Scott Gonneville was the first baby born at St. Luke's Hospital in 2012. He is pictured with his parents, Brooke Amarantes and Timithy Gonneville of New Bedford. This is the couple's second child.

Tobey Hospital

Sophia Faith Crippin was the first baby born in 2012 at Tobey Hospital. She is pictured with her parents, Kristin Leigh Crippin and Derek Crippin of Marion. Sophia is the couple's first child.
