Southcoast Hospitals welcome New Year's babies
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — The first New Year's baby to born in the South Coast region arrived at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River at 1:11 a.m. on January 1, 2012.
Amanda Rego and Thelmo Rego, of Fall River, had a baby boy, Ashton Rego, weighing nine pounds, 4 ounces and 19.5 inches long. This is the couple's first child.
St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford welcomed a baby boy at 9 a.m. Baby Charles Scott Gonneville was born to Brooke Amarantes and Timithy Gonneville of New Bedford. Charles weighs 8 pounds, 10 ounces and is 23 inches long. This is the couple's second child.
So far, no babies have been born today at Tobey Hospital in Wareham.
The Southcoast Hospitals New Year's babies will receive gift baskets filled with baby toys and clothes and a $100 dollar savings bond donated by the St. Luke's & Charlton Auxiliaries and the Tobey Hospital Guild.
