MATTAPOISETT, Mass. — Southcoast Home Care, Hospice & Palliative Care & Infusion Services, in collaboration with the YMCA, will be hosting the fourth annual "Camp Angel Wings," an exciting, fun-filled two-day camp experience for children and teens, ages three through 17, who are grieving the loss of a loved one will be held the weekend of July 29 and 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The camp is open to Massachusetts and Rhode Island residents.
"Camp Angel Wings was designed for children and teens who are sharing like experiences in grief to have an educational, therapeutic experience that is also an enjoyable one," said Deanna Upchurch, Bereavement Coordinator at Southcoast Home Care, Hospice & Palliative Care & Infusion Services.
"The camp counters a sense of isolation that children can feel after losing a loved one. Participating in activities together such as canoeing, swimming, arts, crafts, archery, ropes challenge courses, and drum circle activities can help children and teens who have lost someone close to them explore their many thoughts and feelings about grief and encourages them to try new or familiar activities that help them feel good about themselves."
The two-day camp is free. Camp Angel Wings is sponsored by Southcoast Home Care, Hospice & Palliative Care & Infusion Services of Fairhaven in collaboration with the Mattapoisett YMCA. Registrations are now being accepted. For more information or to register call Deanna Upchurch at 508-984-0202.
