Southcoast Hospitals names Eugene McMahon, MD, Chief Medical Officer

Eugene J. McMahon, MD, MBA
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — After an extensive and thorough nationwide search, Southcoast Hospitals Group announced the appointment of Eugene J. McMahon, MD, MBA, as Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Southcoast Hospitals Group.

Dr. McMahon was most recently Vice President of Medical Affairs for St. Francis Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis., part of the Covenant Health System. Prior to that role, he was the Managing Partner and Medical Director of Ameripath Wisconsin, a 16-physician pathology and laboratory medicine practice that provided clinical services to five hospitals in the Milwaukee area.

Dr. McMahon received his medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he also completed a residency in pathology. He performed his internship in internal medicine at Columbia University in New York.

He received his Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and his Bachelor's Degree from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass.

Dr. McMahon is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American College of Physician Executives, American Medical Association and the College of American Pathologists.
