Mother and baby are in good condition at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River

Fall River Police Officer Brian Vale and Assisting Officer Brian Saurette arrived at the home of Kimberly and Mathew Paiva just in time to deliver a healthy girl.
Leila Paiva was born at 4:10 a.m., weighs eight pounds, five ounces and is in good condition along with her mother at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. She is the first baby born in 2005 in the Fall River region.
The first New Year's baby born in Southeastern Massachusetts arrived at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford at 3:20 a.m. on January 1, 2005.
Rosa Ester Chiclana, the daughter of Tomasita Marquez and Pedro Chiclana of New Bedford, checked in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces and 21 inches long. This is the couple's first baby.
Tobey Hospital in Wareham New Year's baby arrived at 4:29 a.m. and also is a baby girl.
The Southcoast Hospitals New Year's babies will receive gift baskets and gift certificates donated by the St. Luke's & Charlton Auxiliaries and the Tobey Hospital Guild.
