Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms (LDRs) at Tobey offer the very latest options in childbirth.

Families are supported throughout labor and delivery by highly experienced nurses, many who have earned special certification in maternity nursing.

The home-like and spacious rooms include a private bath, each with a jacuzzi tub for comfort during labor.

Families can get acquainted and rest comfortably in warmly decorated and private post-partum rooms, featuring oak rockers and large reclining chairs if dad or significant other wish to remain with mom and baby.

Each room includes a private bathroom with tiled shower.

Families can relax in our comfortable post-partum rooms, which include special furniture for dad to stay with mom and baby in the hospital.

Siblings are a welcome part of the getting-acquainted process on Tobey's maternity unit.

Our nursery is staffed with highly trained pediatricians and we also have strong links to special care nurseries at Southcoast's St. Luke's and Charlton sites, along with Level 1 nurseries at tertiary care centers in Boston and Providence.

Giving birth at the Makepeace Maternity Center is truly a family affair.

Tobey's spacious and light-filled unit revolves around a central core that includes the nursery and a kitchen area where fresh sandwiches, snacks, cereal, and beverages are always available.
