Get started today by calling the Southcoast Hospitals Patient Financial Services Department. Our trained staff will:
- Explain everything you need to apply for health insurance.
- Help you determine which health plan might best fit your needs.
- Help you complete and file an application.
- Support you while your application is processed.
We are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at all three of our hospital sites — Charlton in Fall River, St. Luke's in New Bedford and Tobey in Wareham.

Who is eligible for Commonwealth Care?
You may be eligible if your income is less than 300 percent of the poverty level. As a guideline, this would be less than:
- $29,400 if you are single.
- $60,000 for a family of four.
Commonwealth Choice
Coverage for adults whose income is too high to qualify for either MassHealth or Commonwealth Care may be covered by Commonwealth Choice. Call Southcoast's Patient Financial Services at 800-474-1533 for more information.
