photoQ. Could the medications I'm taking trigger or worsen incontinence?

A. It's possible. Medicines that can affect your bladder include:

  • diuretics, which cause your body to get rid of fluid
  • cold remedies
  • sedatives
  • antidepressants
  • some high blood pressure drugs, including calcium channel blockers.

If you think one of your medicines is to blame, talk to your doctor. He or she may be able to recommend an alternative drug that doesn't cause urinary leakage.
