How to Treat Minor Exercise Injuries
For minor pain and swelling, experts suggest the RICE treatmentrest,
ice, compression and elevation.
Rest:
Stop the activity that's causing pain.
Ice:
Cold can help reduce swelling. Apply an ice pack or a towel-wrapped
package of frozen peas or corn for 10 to 20 minutes every hour
or two until the swelling subsides.
Compression:
Wrap a bandage or cloth firmly around the affected part, but
not so tightly that it hampers blood flow.
Elevation:
Lift the injured limb above the level of your heart.
