Your child’s headaches may be caused by hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar. This can happen when she goes too long without food. Children with diabetes can also develop hypoglycemia.

Self-care and prevention: To prevent headaches from low blood sugar, offer your child smaller, more frequent meals. Encourage her to awaken at the usual time on weekends.

If your child has diabetes and frequently experiences hypoglycemia, ask her doctor how to prevent this.
