Monitor Your Blood Sugar

If you are diagnosed with gestational diabetes, your doctor will probably ask you to measure your blood sugar levels several times a day. This can help you and your doctor determine if you need to adjust your diet or take medication to control your diabetes.

To test your blood sugar, you’ll need to collect a small sample of your blood. Your doctor will spend a lot of time with you explaining how to do this. Be sure to ask a lot of questions if you don’t understand.
