When an older person frequently worries or has nervous tension:
a) it may be a sign of depression.
b) it is typical for the age.

Worry and nervous tension are common in older people who are depressed. Doctors think that some older people may not show the typical symptoms of depression, such as overwhelming sadness. These adults also may have trouble sleeping and feel a sense of hopelessness.
