Is Your Community Hospital in Your Estate Plans?
A gift
by will or trust is the method most frequently used to make a
planned gift to your favorite charitable organizations. Many
Southcoast community members have already informed Charlton Memorial,
St. Luke's or Tobey Hospitals of plans for gifts of this kind.
Undoubtedly, many who are unknown to us have also made plans
to benefit Southcoast Health System or one of its hospitals in
their wills. The Philanthropy Office staff is available to assist
donors and their legal advisers with plans for such gifts.
Below is the suggested language for a bequest:
"I give to (Charlton Memorial, St. Luke's or Tobey Hospitals
or Southcoast Health System) located at 101 Page Street, New
Bedford, MA, 02740*, the amount of $________ or _____percent
of the residue of my estate."
*Mailing address
Are your estate plans current? Ask yourself these questions:
- Have I made a will?
- Have I reviewed my will within the past three years?
- Have I recently:
- moved to another state?
- married, divorced or lost a spouse?
- become a parent?
- Is the personal representative named in my will still able
and willing to serve?
- Have my charitable interests changed since I last reviewed
my will?
Depending upon how you answered these questions, it may be
time to re-draft or add a codicil to your will. If you do make
changes in your estate plans, please consider including Charlton
Memorial, St. Luke's or Tobey Hospitals, or Southcoast Health
System as a beneficiary. Please contact Barbara Mulville in the
Philanthropy Office at 508-961-5353 to learn more.
