5th Annual Male Conference Welcomes “Rudy”

Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger, whose story of fierce determination to attend Notre Dame and play football for the “Fighting Irish” was portrayed in the 1993 film “Rudy,” addressed some 200 male teenagers at Southcoast Hospitals Group’s fifth Annual Male Conference in March.

The Responsible Attitudes toward Pregnancy Prevention (RAPP) Male Conference entitled, “Some Dreams Don’t Die,” hosted nine schools from across the South Coast region at the Taunton Holiday Inn.

“This year’s conference featured motivational speakers and workshops that focused on the what, why’s and how-to’s for setting and achieving your dreams,” said Cindy Guilbeault, Director of Southcoast’s RAPP program.

Ruettiger explained how, after graduating third from the bottom of his high school class, he brought his own dream to life. It took character, courage, commitment and an attitude adjustment, which included breaking ties with those who had a negative influence on him.
