When to Vaccinate Your Child

These are only general guidelines. Check with your physician about the vaccinations your child needs, and when.

* Measles, mumps and rubella vaccinations at ages 11 to 12 only if second dose was not given at ages 4 to 6.
** Tetanus-diphtheria recommended at ages 11 to 12 if at least 5 years have elapsed since last DTP. Routine tetanus-diphtheria boosters recommended every 10 years.
*** Varicella vaccine is recommended at any visit on or after the first birthday for susceptible children and for those who have not been immunized. Susceptible individuals age 13 and older should receive two doses, given at least four weeks apart.
**** All children and adolescents through age 18 who have not been immunized against hepatitis B may begin the series during any visit.
  Indicated in many circumstances, depending on which vaccine for H. influenzae type b infection was previously given.
