Diabetes Care Are diet shakes a good nutritional choice? Sometimes, say researchers especially when its hard to change eating habits. In the study, women who lost weight were better able to keep it off a year later if they continued to replace one meal a day with a diet shake. Journal of the American Dietetic Association Walnuts can enhance the cholesterol-lowering power of the Mediterranean diet. Patients followed the diet high in vegetables and fish and low in meat and eggs for six weeks. Then, they replaced part of the fat with a daily serving of about 10 walnuts.
