The Full Spectrum of Breast Care Services

Women concerned about their breast benefit from the latest technologies and treatments available through Southcoast Hospitals Group.

Southcoast’s regional network offers the most advanced mammograms, including computer- assisted detection, available at all of our 10 sites from Portsmouth, R.I., to Wareham, Mass. This technology provides a “second set of eyes” to help a radiologist uncover suspicious areas in a breast.

If a woman has a suspected problem, she can schedule a “Diagnostic Day” at the Southcoast Center for Women’s Health in North Dartmouth, Mass. This includes a doctor’s visit and a full range of diagnostic testing — all in one visit.

Other services available at our sites include:

  • Breast ultrasound.
  • Biopsy, including image-assisted stereotactic biopsies.
  • Surgery, including breast reconstruction.
  • Radiation therapy.
  • Physical therapy.
  • Breast cancer support groups.
Our breast cancer care team includes highly trained surgeons, radiologists, oncologists and technologists.

Helping You Take Care of Yourself
Southcoast is committed to helping women in our community receive the care and information they need. That’s why Southcoast participates in the Women’s Health Network Massachusetts Breast and Cervical Cancer Initiative (BCCI), a state program that offers free breast exams, mammograms, Pap smears and pelvic exams to uninsured and underinsured women ages 40 to 64. Women younger than 40 and older than 64 also may qualify.

For more information about BCCI, contact Helena Arruda at 508-997-1515, ext. 5442. For more information about Southcoast breast services, log on to www.southcoast.org/breast/.
