Tar Wars
Nurses from Charlton Memorial Hospital and Fall River Public Schools health educators collaborated to bring Tar Wars to fourth and fifth grade students.
Tar Wars is a tobacco use education program supported by the Louis F. Fayan Fund at Charlton and Southcoast Hospital Group's Community Benefits Program.
Volunteer nurses from Charlton teach fifth grade students about the dangers of tobacco use. Students are given a short lecture followed by interactive stations. A poster contest reinforces what students learn and provides them with an opportunity to win prizes.
The program has received recognition and is part of Fall River's Healthy City Initiative.
We proudly present the 2005-2006 winning posters.
