About Charlton Memorial Hospital
Charlton Memorial Hospital, located in Fall River, Mass., provides a full range of inpatient services and currently has 328 licensed acute medical/surgical beds and 37 bassinets. Charlton was founded in 1885 as the Fall River Hospital. An early consolidation resulted in the formation of Union Hospital. In 1975, Union Hospital merged with Truesdale Hospital and the resulting hospital was renamed the Charlton Memorial Hospital in 1979.
In addition to inpatient services, Charlton provides a comprehensive mix of rehabilitative services and therapies on an ambulatory basis. Charlton also provides diagnostic services both on-site at the main campus and throughout neighboring communities in physician's offices and other off-site locations.
In March 2000 Southcoast unveiled a major renovation Charlton. The new wing includes state-of-the-art surgical suites, a newly renovated obstetrics/gynecology unit and a refurbished lobby. Click here for more information on the New Charlton.
As part of Southcoast Hospitals Group, Charlton offers a wide range of free, community health education and wellness programs which includes a health van.
