There's a new home in Wareham for some of Southcoast's primary care and specialty physician practices, including the new location for the Southcoast Center for Weight Loss.
Six of our Southcoast Physician Services primary care physicians, our general surgery practice and our pulmonary practice have all relocated to suites in the new building. Primary care physician practices opening at Rosebrook include Randy Caplan, DO, Brian P. Fitzpatrick, MD, Thomas L. Gleason, MD, Alfredo Gonzalez, MD, John B. Howard, MD, and R. Preston Reynolds, MD.
The specialty practices opening at Rosebrook include Emmet J. Eby, MD, pulmonary medicine; Rayford Kruger, MD, Donald Colacchio, MD, and Thomas T. Streeter, MD, all of Wareham Surgical Associates.
In addition to physician practices, comprehensive outpatient radiology and laboratory services are scheduled to open late summer, including X-ray, computerized tomography (CT), digital mammography with stereotactic biopsy equipment, ultrasound, echocardiology, nuclear medicine and bone densitometry/DECA scanning.
A number of specialists will also be seeing patients at Rosebrook, providing better access to medical services that were not readily available in the Greater Wareham area. They include Iman Ali, MD, Ophthalmology; Patrick J. Curran, MD, Cardiology; David Kielty, MD, Opthalmology; Matthew Philips, MD, Neurosurgery, and Anna Somerto, MD, Neurology.
Southcoast Health System and A.D. Makepeace are planning a public open house and celebration of the building later this summer.

Give a pint ~ get a pizza!
The Southcoast Blood Bank at St. Luke's Hospital has teamed up again this year with area Domino's Pizza stores in a "Pizza for a Pint" promotion during the month of July.
Lead by Nelson Hockert-Lotz, owner of the Domino's Pizza stores on Kempton Street and Rockdale Avenue in New Bedford, participation will include all Domino's in Bristol County — Fall River, New Bedford, Somerset and Taunton. Anyone who donates blood at the Southcoast Blood Bank at St. Luke's Hospital, or at any of the community blood drives hosted by the Southcoast Blood Bank, during the month of July will receive a certificate for a free large one-topping pizza redeemable at all Domino's located in Bristol County. The offer is good for any pick-up order or can be combined with a home delivery order. The certificate will not be recognized for home delivery orders of a large one-topping pizza alone.
And through July ...
Donate a pint of blood in June or July at any Southcoast Blood Bank location and we'll give you two free tickets to a New Bedford Bay Sox home game. Southcoast Hospitals Group is the official hospital of the New Bedford Bay Sox, which play in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. The Bay Sox play their home games at Paul Walsh Field in New Bedford.

National Library of Medicine traveling exhibit visits St. Luke's
Southcoast Medical Libraries is currently sponsoring a national traveling exhibit from the National Library of Medicine that examines a 19th century writer's challenge to the medical profession and the relationship between science and society.
The free exhibit is located on the Mezzanine level of St. Luke's Hospital and will be open to the public until July 9.
"The Literature of Prescription: Charlotte Perkins Gilman and "The Yellow Wall-Paper" is a six-banner traveling exhibit from the History of Medicine Division of the National Library of Medicine.
Artist and writer Charlotte Perkins Gilman, who was discouraged from pursuing a career to preserve her health, rejected these ideas in a terrifying short story titled "The Yellow Wall-Paper." The famous tale served as an indictment of the medical profession and the social conventions restricting women's professional and creative opportunities.
