For the second year in a row, Southcoast Hospitals Group has been identified as a recipient of the 2011 HealthGrades Patient Safety Excellence Award™ ranking in the top 5 percent of all hospitals in the U.S. in patient safety by HealthGrades®.
In a new study released yesterday by HealthGrades, the nation's most trusted source of health care provider information, Southcoast Hospitals was listed as one of just twelve hospitals in Massachusetts and the only hospital in the South Coast region to receive the prestigious HealthGrades Patient Safety Excellence Award.
"Southcoast continues to provide our patients with the safest and highest quality care available. Top quality and the safest environment possible is our consistent focus that resonates across all services we provide at all Southcoast facilities," said Keith A. Mechanics Cooperative Bank commits $300,000 to Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care
Mechanics Cooperative Bank recently committed $300,000 in support of the Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care in Fall River and the new flagship outpatient facility in Fairhaven, which is currently under construction and set to open this spring.
"The Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care is built on the dedication of the caregivers that care for our patients everyday and the generosity of our community members who recognize the importance of this much needed service," said Keith A. Hovan, President of Southcoast Health System and President & CEO of Southcoast Hospitals Group.
"We are extremely grateful to Mechanics Cooperative Bank for the donation of $300,000 for our new Cancer Center, especially because it marks such an important milestone in the bank's history as the largest single gift," Hovan said." Like Southcoast, Mechanics Cooperative has served the communities of Southeastern Massachusetts for more than a century ensuring that the vitality and well-being of our communities is at the forefront of their ongoing commitment."
Mechanics Cooperative Bank has served Southeastern Massachusetts for more than 130 years with eight branch locations throughout Bridgewater, Dighton, Fall River, Somerset, Swansea, Taunton and Westport. This $300,000 gift is the largest single gift given in the Bank's history.
