FREE public H1N1 flu clinics this week

Southcoast Hospitals will host free public H1N1 flu vaccination clinics at its three hospital sites this week.

The following are the times and locations:

Tuesday, January 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Luke's Hospital, White Home building (adjacent to ER entrance), 101 Page Street, New Bedford, Mass.

Wednesday, January 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Mooney Conference Room, 363 Highland Avenue, Fall River. The entrance to the clinic and parking are located at the back of the hospital off Prospect Street.

Thursday, January 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Tobey Hospital, main lobby entrance, 43 High Street, Wareham.

The Southcoast H1N1 flu vaccination clinics are open to all community members throughout the South Coast region. Vaccinations will be administered on a first come, first served basis. Participants are asked to bring health insurance cards, but it is not required. Interpreter services will be available.

Give a pint ~ get a pound!

For the sixth consecutive year, Dunkin' Donuts® is teaming up with the Southcoast Blood Bank at St. Luke's Hospital to encourage local residents to donate blood.

In January 2010, anyone — including Southcoast employees — who donates blood at the Southcoast Blood Bank at St. Luke's Hospital or at any Southcoast Blood Bank site or blood drive will receive a certificate for a pound of Dunkin' Donuts coffee. Coupons are redeemable at any Dunkin' Donuts shop. Southcoast employees also receive a day off when they donate three times within an 18-month period.

Stop by the Southcoast Blood Bank at St. Luke's Hospital Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., or Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Appointments are requested, but not necessary, and can be made by calling 508-961-5320.

The Southcoast Health Van also holds blood drives several times each month.

Southcoast opens new Family Medicine Practice in Fall River

Southcoast Physician Services has opened a new Family Medicine practice at Truesdale Clinic in Fall River, increasing access to much-needed primary care in the region.

Southcoast Family Medicine Group includes five physicians who are all board certified in Family Medicine and provide both adult primary care and pediatric care. The practice is located in a spacious new office suite at the expanded medical office building at Truesdale Clinic, 1030 President Ave. in Fall River.

Physicians include Carlos Correia, MD, who has been practicing at Charlton Memorial for the past 15 years, Felicia Freilich, MD, Jessica Inwood, MD, Kristianna Roberts, DO, and Joey Tryon, DO.
