Stay healthy this summer

With summer comes sun, fun — and unfortunately some common health emergencies. You and your family can be safer this summer by using some basic prevention techniques.

Clean sweep on YouTube!

Almost 200 people joined Southcoast Hospitals and the St. Luke's neighborhood group, Neighbors Eager for Enlightened Development (NEED), for Operation Clean Sweep on May 16.

We picked up 1,700 pounds of trash!

Watch a YouTube video of the clean-up, produced by FUN 107 radio.

We've got your beat!

Your heart is a pump — and a spark plug. And if the pumping and electrical functions don't work together, then your heart might stop working.

Southcoast Hospitals' Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, based at Charlton Memorial Hospital, offers the very latest technology and treatments for heart rhythm problems. To bring you these services, we've partnered with a leader in electrophysiology — Massachusetts General Hospital Heart Center.

Local heart patients have access to open heart surgery, elective angioplasty and now cardiac arrythmia treatment — right here, close to home.

World-class heart services — and care you can't beat.

Give a pint ~ get a pizza!

July is pizza month at the Southcoast Blood Bank.

The Southcoast Blood Bank at St. Luke's Hospital has once again teamed up with area Domino's Pizza stores in a "Pizza for a Pint" promotion during the month of July.

Anyone who donates blood at the Southcoast Blood Bank at St. Luke's Hospital, or at any of the community blood drives hosted by the Southcoast Blood Bank, will receive a certificate for a free, large, one-topping pizza redeemable at any Domino's in Fall River, New Bedford, Taunton, Somerset, Swansea and Wareham.

The Southcoast Blood Bank is the only blood donation venue that directly supports the South Coast communities' blood supply. When you donate blood at a Southcoast sponsored blood drive you are helping to keep your local blood supply strong— so it is there when you need it.

Make a point to give blood in July!
