Less radiation. More comfort. Greater accuracy. Instant images that our radiologists can adjust for better views.
These are some of the advantages of digital mammograms.
And here's why this is important to you.
One in eight women over 40 will develop breast cancer. In this fight, mammograms are a woman's best friend, because early detection and treatment are critical.
So the question isn't whether you should have a mammogram, but where.
Southcoast has just made that decision easier. With the help of our generous supporters, we've upgraded to 100 percent digital mammography at all nine of our radiology facilities — from Fall River to Wareham.
For more information about scheduling your mammogram, call 508-998-0600. Sooner is better.
Quality & Safety: How Southcoast measures up
"Hospital quality measures are among many factors you should consider when choosing a hospital," said Jim Rattray, Vice President of Marketing & Public Affairs. "We want our patients to have access to the most up-to-date information available and feel it is important that they hear directly from us about how much we value quality and patient safety."
Southcoast's new Quality & Patient Safety site has nine quality measures that historically have been important to patients or are currently hot topics, such as key infection rates and mortality rates. The data are measured against a benchmark to show whether Southcoast is doing well or needs improvement. The site provides guidance for how to compare measures and what Southcoast is doing to improve quality.
The site also offers patients advice on how they can play an active role to help assure their hospital stay is as safe as possible. There are also links to other governmental and private sites that provide comparative hospital quality data.
We invite you to see how Southcoast measures up.
Southcoast Hospitals has launched a new Website to report on its own quality, becoming one of the leaders in the movement to be more transparent about quality and patient safety.
