Tobey Fashion Show

The Tobey Hospital Guild invites you to an afternoon fashion show and luncheon: "The Power of Fashion ~ Dressing for the Cure."

The Guild will be raising money to help purchase a digital mammography machine for Tobey Hospital. This state-of-the-art equipment will provide a more detailed manner of taking the X-ray and help detect abnormalities.

The event is Sunday, November 5, at Rachel's Lakeside in Dartmouth. Fashions are provided by Deni's Closet.

Your images on CD

With the latest technology in digital imaging, Southcoast Radiology is now using PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).

PACS provides faster, easier access to patient information, diagnostic data, examination results, and records.

When you come to pick up your x-ray, you will be picking up a CD instead of bulky films.

PACS is currently available to patients at Tobey Hospital. St. Luke's Hospital will be converted to this system in late October and Charlton Memorial Hospital in mid December.

Magnet public notice

Southcoast Hospitals Group has applied to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for the prestigious designation of Magnet. The Magnet designation recognizes excellence in nursing services.

Read a public notice about our upcoming site visit in December.

Tobey hosts family fun day October 22

Help us celebrate the little things that make the Makepeace Maternity Center at Tobey Hospital so special.

Join us for a Family Fair on Sunday, October 22, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Tobey Hospital, 43 High St., Wareham.

There will be free "mini-lectures" on topics including infertility, infant safety and midwifery along with free chair massages, aromatherapy and hand-heart therapy for infants.

We'll be holding a story hour for youngsters and the whole family can tour the newly refurbished maternity center. There will be a car seat and bike safety fair with free car seat inspections and bike helmet giveaways by the Melloni Foundation of Wareham. And loads of other raffles and giveaways.

Art collection helps in healing process

The convergence of art and medicine benefits everyone.

Art can be a soothing tonic for people under stress or in crisis, engrossing the imagination and providing respite from anxiety and pain.

The works of local artists are now on permanent display at St. Luke's Hospital.

You can view our growing collection and watch a film about art and the art of healing.
