Charlton Memorial Hospital will host the annual CMH Golf Classic on Monday, June 19, at the Fall River Country Club in Fall River.
Southcoast is celebrating a decade of bringing unprecedented, "big city" health care to the communities it serves.
Since its creation in 1996, Southcoast has emerged as the premier health care organization in southeastern Massachusetts, offering state-of-the-art technology and advanced medical and surgical services and making more than $250 million in capital investments.
"Southcoast has worked tirelessly to respond to the changing needs of the communities it serves," said Ronald B. Goodspeed, MD, MPH, President of Southcoast Hospitals Group. "The result is a health system that provides some of the most advanced procedures and care available anywhere."
An interview with Southcoast's leaders
When John Day and Ron Goodspeed sat down to talk about forming the organization now known as Southcoast Health System, they barely knew each other even though the hospitals they led were only about 20 minutes apart.
What they did know was the world of health care was changing.
Both leaders were determined to forge an alliance that would keep the new Southcoast's focus on the distinct needs of the region.
In the past decade Southcoast has brought unprecedented health care services to southeastern Massachusetts and introduced the concept of regionalization to the area, which has fostered alliances that reach far beyond the realm of health care.
